RE: 2018-2019 COLLECTIVE BARGAINING NEGOTIATIONS GROUND RULES SETTING MEETING
We refer to the above and advise that parties met at the NEC in Harare today to transact the above business. There was no agreement regarding the date to commence the Collective Bargaining Negotiations. The employer party submitted that it will only be ready for negotiations on the 27th of June 2019 whilst the Unions insisted that Collective Bargaining Negotiations start in earnest on the 17th of June 2019 in order that workers get an adjusted salary for the month of June 2019.
The Union is perturbed by the callous behavior by employers. It is clear that employers do not want to come to the negotiating table in a situation where workers in the Industry are getting wages that cannot sustain life. The Unions made it abundantly clear that many workers may not be able to come to work from next week given the spiraled cost of living.
Accordingly, kindly instruct us at to the way forward. Branch executives are called upon to convene emergency general meetings for the purposes of deciding on the way forward. Please forward your resolutions to the Secretary General by phone, fax, email or whatsapp as soon as possible.
All energy workers unite! Lest we perish.
