Update on ZESA collective bargaining negotiations – 1 March 2011

SUBJECT:  UPDATE ON ZESA COLLECTIVE BARGAINING NEGOTIATIONS

 

We refer to the above matter and advise that parties met today 1 March 2011 at the Rainbow Towers and no agreement was reached.

Management increased its offer to a paltry 5% increase on basic pay which was rejected outright by the Unions.  The matter has been referred to the NEC General Council which shall convene at 2:00 pm tomorrow 2 March 2011 and attempt to resolve the dispute.

Meanwhile the Union is calling upon its members to prepare for action in defense of a decent living.  The undersigned shall advise as to the scope and timing of such action.  Members are urged not to act at the instance of anyone other than the undersigned.
